Why did we choose to sell toys? We could easily answer this question when we started acquiring goods, even before the opening our first small store, though perhaps it has never really been a question. We were kids again... my wife and I. When the goods were placed on the shelves, we – as twenty-somethings – believed that they were happy as well. They must have felt that within a few days they would be held by tiny hands, admired by glittering eyes. We were also happy because we had seen many times the owners of those tiny little hands, who had always been very, very happy. We could not afford to disappoint them, that’s why we started putting the best toys onto our shelves day after day. Later on, we opened up many toys to make sure they could be tested already in the store. Everybody liked this idea a lot, so we decided to organize family playdays. These events attracted a lot of people. Several years went by, and we would have liked to see even more happy little faces, so we opened a few more toy stores. This is how our chain called Játéksziget (Toy Island) was established (Budapest: Árkád, Mammut II., Europark, Ferenc krt. 7., Pécs: Árkád, Gyõr: Árkád) and has become one of the top players in the toy market. At the same time, we are happy to say that the familiar atmosphere has not changed at all during the years, which is proved by the smiles on our returning customers’ faces and by the fact that they come to our special events, or just drop by our stores to play. What made this possible? The fact that playing is fun! |
